Job Description:
Description Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and
safety-conscious Powerline Lineman to join our team. As an integral
part of our electrical distribution operations, the Lineman will be
responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of
overhead powerlines and associated equipment. The ideal candidate
will have extensive experience working with high-voltage electrical
systems, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work
effectively as part of a team. Key Responsibilities: Line
Installation: Assist with the installation of new overhead
powerlines, including setting poles, stringing wire, and installing
transformers, insulators, and other hardware components.
Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine inspections, maintenance,
and repairs on existing powerlines and equipment to ensure safe and
reliable operation. This includes troubleshooting electrical
faults, replacing damaged components, and conducting preventive
maintenance tasks. Storm Response: Respond to emergency situations,
such as power outages caused by storms or equipment failures, in a
timely and efficient manner. Work to restore power safely and
minimize downtime for customers. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all
safety policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe
working environment for yourself and your team members. This
includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
and following established safety protocols at all times. Equipment
Operation: Operate specialized equipment such as bucket trucks,
digger derricks, and tensioning machines safely and efficiently to
perform line work at various heights and locations. Documentation:
Complete work orders, inspection reports, and other documentation
accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain records of work
performed, materials used, and equipment readings. Team
Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the line crew,
including foremen, apprentices, and ground workers, to coordinate
activities and achieve project goals. Communicate effectively with
coworkers and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed safely and
efficiently. Customer Interaction: Interact professionally with
customers, property owners, and other stakeholders as needed to
obtain access permissions, address concerns, and provide
information about planned work activities. Training and
Development: Stay current with industry best practices,
technological advancements, and safety standards through ongoing
training and professional development opportunities. Continuous
Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and
efficiency gains in line construction and maintenance activities.
Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement to management.
Qualifications Qualifications and Education Requirements: High
school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized lineman
training program is highly desirable. Minimum of 4 years of
experience working as a lineman in the electrical utility industry,
with a focus on overhead powerline construction and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of electrical principles, safety practices, and
regulatory requirements related to working with high-voltage
powerlines. Ability to climb poles and work safely at heights while
carrying out line work, including the use of fall protection
equipment as necessary. Proficiency in operating specialized
equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and tensioning
machines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,
with the ability to interact professionally with coworkers,
customers, and other stakeholders. Valid driver's license with a
clean driving record and the ability to obtain a commercial
driver's license (CDL) if required. Willingness to work outdoors in
various weather conditions and environments, including remote
locations and rugged terrain. Holds a Journeyman Electrical
Distribution Systems License, including Transmission Lines (EL-1J).
Work Environment: This role is situated within an outdoor
environment and regularly will be conducted in various weather
conditions. While executing job responsibilities, the employee will
regularly engage in verbal communication. Additionally, physical
demands include standing for long periods, walking, pulling and
pushing, manual dexterity tasks, and reaching. The position
involves frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 100
pounds, with occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. This is
a full-time position with working hours scheduled during various
hours. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are
representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While
executing job responsibilities, the employee will be required to
engage in long periods of standing, walking, sitting, manual
manipulation of objects, tools, or controls, reaching, climbing
stairs, and verbal communication. Additionally, the employee may
occasionally need to lift or move office products and supplies
weighing up to 100 pounds. Travel: Travel within a limited area is
