Choice Care Surgery Center Page 1 of 4Business Office Manager Job Description Reports To: AdministratorPosition Summary:Manages office/clerical staff. Ensures that all business office operations (scheduling, admitting, registration, medical records, billing and coding, transcription and accounts receivable management) are functioning efficiently and according to policy. Responsible for daily cash management procedures and the monitor of cash flow. Maintains a good working knowledge of all managed care contracting. Maintains a current payer matrix.Administers employee benefit program. Manages the physician credentialing process.Assists the Administrator with the general financial management of the facility.Minimum Requirements:

  • Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: High school diploma or GED required. College education preferred. Previous experience in medical business office required. Supervisory experience preferred. Previous medical coding experience required. Bookkeeping/accounting experience preferred.

          • Knowledge: Knowledge of AIR and A/P. Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles. Knowledge of insurance billing and collections. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Knowledge of web access and utilization.

              • Work Environment: Subject to busy clinical business environment requiring above average ability to prioritize and organize.                 • Assures efficient schedule and registration of patients.
                • Resolves financial conflicts appropriately and professionally.
                • Assures timely depositing of receipts and refunding of overpayments.
                • Oversees and assists patient reception, registration and admission.
                • Assures adequate supply of business office supplies.
                • Oversees physician credentialing process and file maintenance.
                • Coordinates scheduling and directs duties of business office staff.
                • Monitors cash flow and the accounts receivable and collections process.
                • Assumes and delegates responsibility for accounts payable functions.Assures that invoices are appropriately matched to purchase orders.
                  • Assures invoices are entered correctly into the A/P system and prints checks per established schedule.
                  • Supervises the medical record process to ensure compliance and confidentiality.
                  • Oversees and assists with the transcription, coding and the billing.
                  • Monitors the fee schedule and suggests any appropriate changes to theAdministrator.
                    • Ensures that all business office procedures are carried out according to policy.
                    • Responsible for verifying the daily computer backups are performed.
                    • Demonstrates appropriate patient interaction across the age span
                    • Assists in preparation of annual budget for Governing Body approval.
                    • Participates in budget/financial problem solving to promote fiscal responsibility.
                    • Participates in contract negotiations.
                    • Maintains insurance matrix.
                    • Directs staff to regularly consider opportunities for revenue increases and expense decreases.
