Job Description:
Job Description The Infection Prevention Coordinator provides
coordination of the Infection Prevention Program in the hospital.
The main objective is to assure a high quality of patient care by
identifying and eliminating risks of infection to patients and
personnel through daily surveillance; by identifying areas which
need special monitoring; by assisting with educational and research
programs; and by teaching information pertinent to infection
control to staff, physicians, and patients. A. Education: Currently
licensed as an RN in the state of Texas. B. Training and
Experience: At least 5 years in clinical nursing. Related infection
control experience preferred. Teaching experience would be helpful,
but not required. CIC is preferred but not required. Able to
successfully complete CIC certification after 2 years in Infection
Prevention role. Current BLS certification. C. Job Knowledge: A
working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious diseases.
Familiarity with hospital organizational structure, function of
various departments, and policies/procedures of the hospital.
Knowledge of regulatory and accrediting agency standards. Able to
communicate effectively orally and in writing. Company Description
