Job Description





The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within theparameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws;rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health careinstitution or practice setting. The RN functions under his or her own license and assumesaccountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their familiesaccording to the standards of nursing practice. The RN demonstrates responsibility forcontinued competence in nursing practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis,self-care, and lifelong learning.--SHIFT AND SCHEDULE--PRN: as needed ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS--- Complete a comprehensive assessment. This includes the initial and ongoing, extensivecollection, analysis and interpretation of data.--- Synthesize the data collected during the comprehensive assessment to identify problems,make nursing diagnoses, and to formulate goals, teaching plans and outcomes.--- Implement the plan of care. The RN may begin, deliver, assign or delegate certaininterventions within the plan of care for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatoryparameters and in consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, andpromotion of healthy lifestyles.--- Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions incomparison to benchmarks from evidence-based practice and research findings, and plansany follow-up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:--- An associate's degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science inNursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Our aim is that MMH nurses are prepared at the BSNlevel. We are committed to support your pursuit of a BSN education. A BSN andcertification in clinical area of expertise will be required to advance within the clinicalnurse professional practice ladder.--- 2 years of critical care experience is preferred--- Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse--- Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR) preferred--- ACLS is required within 12 months of date of employment in the Radiology.--- Annual stroke education 2 hours. Initial stroke education 3.5 hours
