Job Description





The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within theparameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws;rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health careinstitution or practice setting. The RN functions under his or her own license and assumesaccountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their familiesaccording to the standards of nursing practice.--The RN demonstrates responsibility forcontinued competence in nursing practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis,self-care, and lifelong learning. This RN will meet the needs of patients (inpatient or outpatient)requiring education, assistance, and/or guidance related to breastfeeding.SHIFT AND SCHEDULEFull Time: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM--ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS--- Complete a comprehensive assessment. This includes the initial and ongoing, extensivecollection, analysis and interpretation of data.--- Synthesize the data collected during the comprehensive assessment to identify problems,make nursing diagnoses, and to formulate goals, teaching plans and outcomes.--- Implement the plan of care. The RN may begin, deliver, assign or delegate certaininterventions within the plan of care for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatoryparameters and in consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, andpromotion of healthy lifestyles.--- Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions incomparison to benchmarks from evidence-based practice and research findings, and plansany follow-up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE--- An associate's degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science inNursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Our aim is that MMH nurses are prepared at the BSNlevel. We are committed to support your pursuit of a BSN education. A BSN andcertification in clinical area of expertise will be required to advance within the clinicalnurse professional practice ladder.--- Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse--- Certification in area of specialty (e.g., IBCLC, CBE) preferred--- Current BLS upon hire; NRP required within 6 months--- Experience in lactation education and care of mothers or newborns preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialresponsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individualswith disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to:--- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. forclinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-liftdevice or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximumlimits.
