Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, this position is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to deliver direct nursing care, using time and resources efficiently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Provides optimal, direct patient care and demonstrates sound decision-making skills.
* Communicates patient care needs to all members of the health care team.
* Contributes effectively to promote timely and efficient patent admission, transfer and discharge including providing appropriate patient education.
* Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the primary care provider.
* Documents patient status in an accurate, pertinent and concise manner.
* Assists with updating care plans.
* Assists with training and education of clinical office staff.
* Participates in provider education of ACO initiatives and documentation improvement efforts.
* Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to health care team members (non-licensed) commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: As assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES: Knowledge and competency in performing baseline nursing skills.

AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.

Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

* Education Graduate of an accredited trade or vocational school of nursing.
* Work Experience One year of relevant experience, new graduates accepted based upon position availability.
* Training N/A
* License/Certification Current New Mexico Nursing License and BLS certification required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood or other body fluids.
