Job Description
The Surgery Operations Coordinator is a highly skilled professional
with advanced knowledge of Operating Room Nursing. Sets standards
for the OR staff and surgical services to ensure that these
standards are met for every case. Functions as the coordinator
between OR Management, surgeons, and the surgical team. Runs the OR
schedule to maximize efficiency for each day of scheduled
cases.SHIFT AND SCHEDULEFull Time 6:30 AM - 3:00 PMESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS--Assists to coordinate the daily
operations of their assigned area (e.g., staffing, throughput,
patient concerns, staff concerns, room assignments, data
collection, process flow, staff utilization, etc.) under the
direction of the OR clinical manager and/or Director of
perioperative services-- Synthesize the data collected during the
comprehensive assessment to identify problems, make nursing
diagnoses, and to formulate goals, teaching plans and outcomes.--
Implement the plan of care. The RN may begin, deliver, assign or
delegate certain interventions within the plan of care for patients
within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters and in
consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness,
and promotion of healthy lifestyles.-- Evaluate and report patient
outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions in comparison
to benchmarks from evidence-based practice and research findings,
and plans any follow-up care and referrals to appropriate resources
that may be needed.----Responsible for communication and
relationship building through shared decisionmaking and stakeholder
relationships.-- Knowledge of healthcare environment demonstrated
in practice knowledge, outcome measurement and knowledge of quality
improvement metrics.----Creates and monitors the staff assignments
in coordination with the on-call Anesthesiologist. Oversees any
changes.-- Utilizing interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
to maintain good working relationships with staff, physicians,
departments, contractual agencies and other
organizations.----Assists patients and families as needed in
stressful, crisis situations.----Oversee daily functions at the
board and approves all changes in the schedule.----Serves as a
resource for staff on a daily basis in regards to equipment and
supplies--In conjunction with the Educator, assigns new staff to
preceptor and helps facilitate their orientation to the
unit.----Identifies problems and follows up with resolutions or
assists resolutions utilizing problem solving techniques and
accountable communication skills are evidenced by feedback from
physicians and staff.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-- An associate's
degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of
Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Our aim is that MMH
nurses are prepared at the BSN level. We are committed to support
your pursuit of a BSN education. One (1) year of leadership
experience preferred.----Licensure: Current State of Texas License
as a Registered Nurse----Certifications Required: ACLS----Preferred
Certifications: CNORPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job
