Description Position Summary: Responsible for the daily/weekly maintaining of route tracking (where applicable), audit of driver logs and trip reports, log and driver file DOT requirements tracking. Liaison for internal customer support. This is a 3rd shift position. Days are Tuesday - Saturday. Hours are 10pm - 6am. Major Responsibilities: People: Communicate daily work assignments to all drivers. Ensure all associates are issued assignments on a non-biased system and treated equally and fairly. Plan and optimize delivery routing. Operations: General dispatch duties as they relate to shipment planning and assigning. Evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work processes to improve customer satisfaction, Effectively manage deadline pressures while maintaining a positive attitude, Ensure customer's product is stored or delivered in a timely basis, damage free. Other projects and tasks as assigned by the manager. Various office and administrative duties, which may include handling accounts payable/receivable and collections, payroll, fuel reconciliation, office supplies, billing, maintaining database and miscellaneous reporting Audit of logs and trip reports and other DOT reporting, maintain of files, customer service interaction, resolution of driver equipment requests and pallet tracking. Maintenance and distribution of route books, daily interface with drivers, assist with driver coverage of vacation and overflow freight. Prioritize workload and have flexibility to adjust based on position requirements. Field phone calls from drivers and problem solve and offer situationally appropriate solutions. Shifts: 5 on 2 off. Night shift and potential weekends. Finance: Closely manage associates working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets. Safety: Understand the location safety strategy and how to apply it in the work place, Continuously monitor and reinforce safety awareness among all shift associates, Lead shift safety meetings. Growth / Customer Experience: Present a positive, can do attitude to the customer, Understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives, Determine areas that could benefit from continuous improvement efforts. Fleet/Assets: Ensure all equipment is in proper working order, Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed and send to appropriate vendor (PTL, etc.), Ensure vehicles are properly secured when not in service. Qualifications -2 years of general office experience required - 1+ year of Transportation/DOT experience - highly desired - 1 year of customer service experience required - High School diploma or equivalent required - Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required - Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening. - Must possess good communication skills as well as organizational and problem solving skills. - Working knowledge of MRP and JIT preferred. - Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills are required - Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required - Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job Physical Requirements: -The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
