Position Descriptions: Field Service Technician l
The Field Service Technician will provide hands-on technical, and
operations support of Reciprocating Compression equipment and
supporting utility systems within customer facilities during
commissioning, start-up, operations, preventive maintenance,
corrective maintenance, performance testing, and trouble-shooting
situations as required. You will also assist the Field Services
Site Team Leader in the provision of technical and mechanical
services to external customers in settings such as workshops,
compressor stations, process plants, etc.
Some additional responsibilities include:
--- Through accepted standard troubleshooting processes, diagnose
and correct engine problems and / or compressor problems.
--- Complete daily safety checks and report safety concerns.
--- Monitor key and critical operating variables and other process
data to ensure that the engine and compressor units are operating
within design parameters.
--- On-site, attend operations meetings with client personnel to
proactively identify issues and lead the efforts to resolve
--- Participate in construction activities to ensure process
designs are used for operational and safety, identifying
improvements in unit operations based on actual field
--- Learn, share, and implement best practices with extended
Reciprocating Compression Engineering, Sales, and Operations team
--- Support turn-around activities for customers including
identification / justification, procedure writing, reviews,
equipment inspection, etc.
Field Service Tech l - $21 - $25/hour + OT at time and a half.
+ $500 quarterly bonus
Guaranteed 40 hour/week compensation even when on the bench
Location: Odessa, TX
Shift: Standard in-shop hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, but you will
rarely work only an 8-hour day.
Travel: At least 75% or more travel is required for this role.
You will be gone 8-12 weeks on-site for low speed and 4-6 weeks for
The hiring manager is looking for a strong prior military candidate
or civilian who has experience with reciprocating compression
equipment and understands basic engine and compressor theory.
Technical training in the oil and gas industry is a plus, though
Cooper Bessemer, Ajax, Superior Engine, Superior Compressor, Gemini
Compressor, Clark, Waukesha, Dresser, and Caterpillar are just a
few of the equipment types named. You by no means must be an expert
on all or even one of them, but you do need to have at least some
with the ability to learn fast and hit the ground running.
Safety is also incredibly important as well as being
service-oriented and having good verbal and written communication
skills. Lastly, you should possess basic tool competencies, shop
math skills, computer skills, equipment documentation, engine
balancing, and web deflection/alignment.
