Kelly Services is currently seeking an experienced Construction
Specialist in Midland, Michigan to join a leading team in a
long-term opportunity with growth potential!
Day to day Responsibilities:
Proactively engage with the Project Manager and the Construction
Manager to ensure all Construction deliverables are planned and
transparent to the project team, the owner and ‘the plant’.
Contribute to FEL and FEED stages per the Project Execution
Plan, produce and maintain Constructability checklist or inputs to
support the most accurate design, estimates, and schedules.
Assist and ensure the Contractors have inspected the site
conditions and understand the Construction Scope of Work and plant
Engage with Engineers, Man. Reps, Vendors, Purchasing, EHS&S
functions to ensure all contractor planning and schedules align
with construction milestones and turnover dates.
Validate Construction SoW and Contractor’s installation
schedule, obtain buy-in from the Project Management.
Seek guidance of Construction Manager for constructability
reviews / issues, and any design / safety related issues, propose
resolutions and assure they are addressed by competent resources
well before the commencement of scheduled installations.
Ensure contractors provide Project Safety Plans and safety
related documentation to confirm Corteva Global, Site, Plant
requirements, assure acceptance of such, and readily available
prior to commencement of work.
Ensure contractor personnel at all levels commit to safety
requirements, mobilize safety qualified resources and utilize
approved safety equipment for timely execution.
Support the coordination of Safe Work Permitting processes, to
include construction scheduling, daily monitoring of resources and
daily time schedules.
Ensure safety violations and non-compliances are not tolerated
and brought to the notice of contractor’s leadership for immediate
corrective and preventive actions through a fair and robust root
cause failure analysis.
Ensure all contractors provide Project Quality Control programs,
qualified Quality Control Inspectors, representatives and obtain
approvals of such plans prior to commencement of work.
Provide Quality Assurance field coverage and inspections of
Quality workmanship and supporting documentation of such to assure
and enforce contractors Quality Control deliverables.
Ensure Contractor provides escalation matrix and / or
Non-conformance program to address any project related issues
Ensure a robust project communication plan and timely
communication is provided to all project stakeholders to update
Safety, Quality, Costs and Schedule status against goals / planned
Provide “Daily” visibility and continuous engagement on the
construction site and to ensure stakeholders are aware of the
present and the future work is executed ‘uninterrupted’ through
proper planning with the plant operations.
Ensure the contractors bid documents and proposals include
justified cost and labor man-hours to support a resource loaded
schedule and cost tracking tools.
Maintain a robust Change Order Management program, compatible
with EPC/M and contractor tools to approved trigger criteria,
document control, written approval to proceed and change order
billing processes are strictly followed.
Lead acceptance checks, mechanical completion documentation,
visual inspections, close out documents, Return-to-Operations
coordination’s and schedules, and completed installations are
documented and made available for start-up.
Obtain project acceptance from plant personnel and assist in
Ensure contractor’s invoices are “timely” following the agreed
contractual terms and conditions, and that they include proper
project numbers, purchase order numbers, maintenance or work order
numbers, cost centers, contractor vendor codes as per contractual
Verify completeness of supporting billing documents to include
Time and Material sheets, vendor and sub trade contract billings,
unit rates, “approved” Change Orders, documentation to support
visual audits and inspection of such billable materials or
equipment per contract documents.
Ensure all Turnaround work is planned and adequately scheduled
with operations, to include resource-loaded schedules approved by
the Turnaround Planner, Project Management group & Plant
Ensure contractor’s leadership is visible at site and encourage
that they conduct construction safety reviews.
Construction Management degree preferred or Successful
Experience in managing Capital Construction Projects.
IT technical abilities to include Internet, Share Point,
document control programs, and scheduling programs.
