The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applicants for
the position of Academic Advisor I, College of Business. Reporting
to the college dean and the MBA program director, the Academic
Advisor I will participate in the planning and delivery of academic
advising/counseling services that promote comprehensive educational
opportunities for students (primarily graduate students) in the
College of Business. The Academic Advisor is responsible for
sustaining an environment of academic and professional excellence
for students and for maintaining direct contact with student
advisees, from matriculation through graduation; this includes
meeting with individual as well as small groups of on-campus and
on-line students on an ongoing basis to build rapport, set goals,
and develop action plans for academic success to include course
Starting salary range: $31,408 $37,000/yr., depending upon
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintain direct contact with student advisees throughout their
academic program(s) in the College of Business
Meet regularly with individuals as well as small groups of
on-ground and on-line students to build rapport, set goals, and
develop action plans for academic success that include course
Provide proactive and timely outreach, referrals, and intervention
with student population through a variety of communication
Collaborate with faculty regarding student concerns, student
progress, and course content
Participate and support all key departmental operations including
tracking statistics, proper file documentation, departmental
meetings, strategic planning, and program assessment
Understand and monitor institutional benchmarks and support all
student persistence endeavors
Other duties, as assigned
WORK SCHEDULE : This is an exempt position and your expected
work schedule is Monday through Friday. As an exempt employee, your
schedule may vary based on the number of hours needed to meet the

Minimum of an Associates degree or equivalent college hours from
an accredited program; Bachelors degree preferred
