With the strength of 4000 people, our growing family of companies now addresses the entire life cycle of power generation and other industrial plants.NAES offers competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package (including retirement) and promotional opportunities.GENERAL SUMMARYThe Instrumentation, Controls, & Electrical (IC) Technician is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems, and electrical equipment; in the Power Plant and associated facilities. The IC Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation, and removal of all electronic and electrical Power Plant equipment and systems.PRIMARY DUTIESPerform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems, as well as emergency backup systemsMaintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings, for all designated equipmentAssist in maintaining and controlling spare-parts inventory, to maintain Plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.Participate in the administrative maintenance of Plant operating manuals, technical references, procedures, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance recordsNormal work schedule is Monday - Friday . Expected to support 24 x 7 work shifts as required to support the operation of the spect, repair, install, and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, relays and storage batteries; work with electrical systems up to and including 4,160 volts.Effectively use and care for electrical and electronic testing equipment for troubleshootingConduct trouble shooting and analysis on Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and turbine-control equipmentMaintain all Plant instrumentation and electrical test equipmentFully support, act, engage and participate in NAES Safety and Regulatory Compliance ProgramsComplete other tasks, as assigned by Maintenance ManagerTravel: As needed for trainingNAES SAFESafety is a core value of NAES and as a condition of employment, all employees are expected to be mentally alert and work safely at all times. Effectiveness in carrying out this responsibility is part of the evaluation of each employee's performance.WORKING RELATIONSHIPSThe IC Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and responds to direction from the Maintenance Planner or Plant Manager during their absence. Works in cooperation with the operating utility, regarding matters pertaining to the daily operation of the Plant.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical requirements include working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions from heat, cold, wind, rain and snow, standing on feet for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing, working from heights up to 165' and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other PPE must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.This position requires working eight hour shifts with the possibility of overtime, weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions.All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.JOB QUALIFICATIONSAbility to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment, as would be acquired in four (4) years of high schoolGraduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program desirableMust have experience in Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Logic and turbine-control equipment (Netmation and Mark VI)Understanding and experience with Arc Flash Protection and BoundariesExperience with Avantis or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)Work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in the power generation industry or a related industryAbility to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as the ability to apply creative solutions to unique Instrumentation & Electrical (I) issuesExcellent organizational skillsAbility to use most common computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.Must be able to work from blueprints, drawings and P'sExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience in a Power Plant environment preferred, to include the following:Instrumentation and control systems used in modern power stations; including burner management, combustion control, boiler controls, turbine controls, and machine-condition monitoringElectrical systems used in modern power stations, including 18 KV switchgear and motors, 4,160 volt-switchgear and motors, 480-volt motors and control centers, transformers, batteries, inverters and chargers, main generator and excitation equipmentIt is the practice of NAES to seek employees of the highest quality and to select the individuals on the basis of merit and competence, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, military status or affiliation protected under USERRA, or any other basis of discrimination prohibited by applicable local, state and federal law.
