Scope of Work

Assists in the daily operation and oversight of the anaerobic digestion and dewatering facilities. Responsible for treating wastewater for specific uses in compliance with State and Federal regulations.

Essential Job Duties

* Collects wastewater samples to facilitate proper biological process control.


* Analyze readings and lab test results and make necessary adjustments on equipment.
* Operates and monitors plant equipment including pumps, motors, presses, chemical feed equipment and various other machinery typical of the wastewater industry.
* Monitors recorders, meters, LCD/LED indicating and control equipment, electronic SCADA screens, pump panels, wastewater plant machinery, and operational facilities.
* Diagnoses and corrects various electrical, mechanical, and biological issues affecting plant and dewatering operations.
* Reports all mechanical and electrical issues to supervisory personnel.
* Assist in loading and unloading transported equipment.
* Operates equipment used in the daily activities of the wastewater treatment plant including backhoes, motor graders and sludge and screenings transportation vehicles.
* Transports sand, stone, gravel and other materials to various work sites.
* Performs maintenance, service and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment.
* Maintains required state and federal records of plant operations
* Assists maintenance and effluent distribution personnel as assigned.
* Performs related duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while operating equipment or completing projects. Ability to climb, bend and lift materials or equipment used in water and sewer system maintenance. Must be able to lift bags of material frequently. May be exposed to potentially hazardous fumes and odors and mechanical and chemical hazards while completing tasks. Must be able to be on call in case of plant emergencies or incidents.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Ability to effectively verbally and orally communicate with other employees and supervisors on a daily basis. Ability to read operations manuals, gauges, various laboratory equipment and written instructions. Shift work is required. Skill in the use of heavy equipment utilized in maintenance activities such as backhoes, motor graders and tractors.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid Texas CDL Class A driver's license required. Must receive and retain a valid "C" Wastewater Treatment license from the State of Texas within 3 years of employment.
