Job Description:

Coordinates and monitors compliance with customer agreements, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations for records verifications and drug testing.Serves as secondary DER for the companys drug and alcohol program.Receives chain of custody and other types of documentation from contracted medical clinics or organizations related to company testing/screening; may act as custodian of records by monitoring the receipt and proper distribution of all legally required documentation and by updating and maintaining all related databases and documents.Reviews relevant documentation for accuracy, completeness, and coordinating corrections internally and externally.Completes training/certification to perform both non-DOT and DOT drug and alcohol collections; conducts internal drug/alcohol collector training as required.Trains supervisors and other staff regarding observation methods used to identify the symptoms of alcohol and drug use and abuse and the process for recommending specific employees for reasonable suspicion or post-accident test.Supports the companys drug/alcohol/occupational health program through scheduling, reporting, and auditing.Performs the necessary administrative tasks related to completing motor vehicle records (MVR), verification of employment (VOE) requests, external federal/state agency requests, and other compliance-related programs.Provides data required for annual reports to the DOT, FMCSA, and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).Collaborates with the program manager (DER) or leads major/minor initiatives to improve compliance programs through recommending efficiency gains, implementing positive changes, and monitoring processesBuilds cross-functional relationships with other stakeholders in compliance/related programs (HR, DOT, Operations, etc.) to improve organizational change management successDevelops expertise and continue education related to changing government regulations and standards regarding substance abuse in safety sensitive occupations.QualificationsMust have a valid Driver's license.High school diploma or equivalent.Fluent in English and Spanish.At least two years related HSE, DOT, drug and alcohol, or industry experience required.Must be able to lift, bend, kneel, squat, or lie down while working.Ability to work indoors and outdoors with possible exposure to hot or cold temperatures.Has attention to detail orientated; well organized.Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic.Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely, both orally and in writing, and to prepare clear and concise reports, letters, memoranda, and other documents.Accurately maintain a wide variety of databases and records; prepare accurate reports; quickly learn and effectively use new computer software as adopted; communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work using principles of good customer service.The position will require someone with a strong aptitude for organization and attention to detail.Ability to work and relate in a positive fashion toward individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain effective working relationships.
