Our client is a prominent supplies & services firm with more than 25 years of industry experience to serve all sectors of the oil & gas industry, upstream, midstream, and downstream to operators, contractors, & service companies.Job Title - BuyerClassification - Full-time, Non-ExemptSchedule - M – FLocation - Odessa, TXTravel - up to 10% if localSUMMARY:The Company's Buyer researches & purchases goods, supplies, equipment, and raw materials to support operations & services. They understand schedules, evaluate orders' risks, manage suppliers' performance, and follow internal purchasing policies & procedures. The Buyer works with varying departments to define requirements, finds & uses uncommon resources, monitors orders, and updates leaders as appropriate.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily:

  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods & services. Research & evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production & distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation & history.
  • Communicate technical, quality, and customer & project specific requirements when sourcing information for goods & services. Work to ensure delivery schedules support operational and project needs. Review, analyze, and monitor prompt processing & closure of open purchase orders.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data & information to determine reasonable prices. Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, & other representatives. Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
  • Confer with staff, clients, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action. Resolve shipping, quality, and technical product issues related to sourced goods or purchasing issues between the company & its suppliers.
  • Collect, maintain, and distribute material traceability records as directed. Manage overall inventory, stock, and pricing strategies to support cost objectives. Maintain & review computerized or manual records of purchased items, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
  • Assist with preparation of customer estimates and bids for sales & field operations. Monitor and follow applicable regulations, as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform the job successfully, the requirements representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required include the following:
    • Experience – 3+ years' related industry experience purchasing raw material, off-the-shelf parts, and fabricated & machined products with a focus on oil field parts & supplies. 2+ years' experience reading drawings, bills of materials, and supervising processes.
    • Education/Certification – A Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience to meet qualification requirements.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics and physical demands representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include:
      • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
      • The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see.
      • The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
      • Work is performed in an office and/or an area shared by several people.
