Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and
has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located
in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was
originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the
community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the
art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20,
and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Registered Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for
performing Ultrasound procedures in accordance to physicians'
orders, exam protocols and instructions. The technologist is to
instruct the patient regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and
optimum test results. They are to follow prescribed safety
standards in operating equipment, maintain ultrasound and vascular
equipment in appropriate operating condition and maintain
examination rooms and work areas keeping all necessary items
stocked. The technologist should maintain accurate department
records, reports and files as directed. They should also follow
HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive
information. As a member of the Radiology care team, the
technologist works collaboratively with the other members to assure
the safe and accurate delivery of care. In addition, the
technologist performs a range of technical services in a
cross-functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs as
assigned.
Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program
or an accredited Radiologic Technology program that included cross
training in Ultrasound.
Licenses/Certificates:
RDMS certification in one or more of the following areas: Abdomen,
OB/GYN, vascular, echo or Radiologic Technologist certification,
with ARRT registration.
CPR certification for Health Care Providers.
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years experience as a sonographer, and proficient
at all general studies.
Experience in vascular preferred.
Skills:
Ability to operate ultrasound equipment.
Ability to take vital signs.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with patients, medical staff, management and peers.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the
ability to manage interactions with difficult people.
Excellent telephone skills.
Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and physiology to sufficiently
pinpoint area of imaging.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a
safe work environment.
Must be able to act calmly and effectively in busy, stressful or
emergency situations.
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in
person, by phone and in writing.
Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including
standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal
appearance.
