Job Title: Mine Engineer
Reports To: Chief Mine Engineer
Location: New Mexico - East OVERVIEW A Mine Engineer will provide timely, innovative, and realistic engineering support to both management and the mine operations group. The primary responsibilities include a safe and efficient mine plan in support of mine operations, and the successful implementation of the long-range mine plan to achieve corporate goals.

JOB DUTIES

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators and mine operating statistics
  • Perform visual estimates of stockpiles and product storage warehouses on a routine basis
  • Conduct volume and quantity surveys on stockpiles and product storage warehouses
  • Assist with mine ventilation models - analyze conditions and recommend changes when required
  • Evaluate the stability of active mining areas and recommend design changes when required to increase safety or optimize extraction of ore
  • Coordinate mining engineering activities with other disciplines such as environmental, mechanical, geological
  • Assist Mine Technicians with surveying tasks required to support mine operations
  • Perform research and design projects focusing on improved efficiency or reduced cost per ton
  • Participate in various portions of the engineering process, including, but not limited to: safety audits, the development and review of operating procedures, and equipment selection research and recommendation REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mine Engineering; one to five years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Valid driver's license
    • Demonstrated competency in mining engineering disciplines for underground - ventilation, rock mechanics, production engineering, equipment, etc.
    • Knowledge of MSHA regulations is a plus
    • Drafting skills adequate to create drawings and maps using AutoCAD, Vulcan and Carlson Suite required
    • Understanding of advanced surveying procedures required

        SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 9/80 schedule, Monday - Thursday, 9-hour workdays, Fridays worked, 8-hour workday, with every other Friday off. Schedule subject to change.
        • Underground mining environment that is often not well lit and is at low heights
        • Exposed to louder than moderate noises (ex: vehicle noises, machinery noises, etc.)
        • Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
          PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
          • Standing, walking, sitting (while driving) over 2/3 of work time, squatting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and fingers movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping.
          • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs. less than 1/3 of the time
          • Must be able to perceive color differences
          • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed
            A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
